5 Tricks For Expanding Your Insurance Agency’s Reach With Twitter

Posted ago by Insurance Marketing Expert

Twitter only appealed to the nerdiest Internet users when it first launched in 2006, but now it’s one of the most powerful free marketing tools online. Savvy insurance agencies can gather leads, connect with existing customers, and build their brand by using Twitter the right way.

1. Solve Local Problems

The search function on Twitter allows you to quickly find local people discussing issues you can solve with affordable insurance. For example, run regular searches for nearby shoppers complaining about high car insurance costs or issues with their home insurance policy provider.

2. Spread Your Content Around

If you use a blog or Facebook page to promote your business, get more eyes on your content by automatically creating tweets for each new piece you publish. There are numerous free or inexpensive tools that automate this process to keep your Twitter feed hopping.

3. Check On The Competition

How are your biggest competitors using social media to get new business? With a Twitter account, you can track the efforts of everyone else targeting consumers in your area. Find out about promotions and public events as soon as possible so you can respond with your own efforts.

4. Network With The Industry

Building connections with your policy underwriters and agencies in other parts of the country can give you access to all sorts of new resources. For a good source of new material when your own ideas for social media updates run low, follow the big names in the insurance industry for plenty of content to conveniently retweet.

5. Prove Your Expertise

Timely tweets discussing how insurance can help with trending topics and news stories show off your knowledge of the industry. Just three to five well-written messages a day can prove you really know your stuff.

It’s easy to start up a Twitter account, but making it successful takes a little more work. Get help with your social media marketing efforts to make your insurance agency shine online.

Is your product boring? Not if you do this

Posted ago by Insurance Marketing Expert

You have a blog.  Great.  You have a social media marketing platform.  Great.  You have a followers and subscribers.  Even better.  So what do you have to do next?  Make sure you are putting out interesting and captivating material.  But, I SocialPosthave a boring service/product.  That doesn’t matter, if GE can make marketing machines and subsequent components fun and interesting, so can you.  Want to know how?  Well here, let me help.

    • Find a mascot for your company.  Geico has the gecko and Allstate has Mayhem.  These guys are funny and quirky.  Take a look around for your mascot and get creative.
    • Personalize.  We can’t stress enough how important personalization is when it comes to marketing your brand.  Fans of the week on your Facebook page is a prime example of what I’m talking about.
    • Get silly.  This is a little vague, I know but allow me to explain.  Get some employees from your office to act out a script and make your own homemade commercials.  With insurance, there are a lot of fun things you can do (think about the meme showing a burning house down with the caption, ‘I think I killed the spider’).
    • Get your products in on the marketing action.  Send personalized email to your customers from your homeowners, auto, or life insurance.

Let your creative juices flow and don’t be afraid to try new things.  And speaking of trying new things, give Transformer Marketing a call.  I mean this is after all what we do.

It’s all about the visual baby!

Any more nowadays, we the people love visual content.  Just look at all the memes, pictures, and e-cards that we load up on our Facebook pages, Instagram accounts, and Twitter feeds.  So it would make sense that you would need to have fabulous images all over your social media marketing plan.

With that in mind, we want to help you find those images you need. visualcontent

    • Copyright free images.  No need to reinvent the wheel and with all the talented photographers out there, why bother?  There are a number of websites in which you can retrieve copyright free images day or night.  Our suggestion is Creativecommons.org.  Here, they compile images from a number of different sites that you can surf for the perfect image.
    • Adobe Photoshop.  This is a cliché, we know, but Photoshop works.  Get the artistic genius in your office to design the perfect images you need.  The best part?  No copyright infringement.
    • Make a video!  Break out your video camera on your phone and find a topic that you would like your audience to know about and Presto! You have visual content.
    • Infographs are awesome!   Infographs are used everywhere for just about everything.  Design one, throw it up on your blog or Facebook page.  Simple, creative, informative, and relevant.

Social Media Campaigns, yes they can work

Posted ago by Insurance Marketing Expert

Social media campaigns are a must in order to build your company’s fan base and increase your viewership.  Campaigns are most commonly found on Facebook, however you should not discount the power of Twitter, LinkedIn, or Google+.  Linking back your Facebook campaign through other social media outlets can garner the outcome you are looking for as well.

    What you needsocialface

In order to launch a successful campaign through social media, you need to have a couple of things.

    1. A plan.  In August of 2014, Facebook put an end to like-gating.  What is like-gating?  When you force someone who doesn’t like your page to like your page.  Previously, marketers used like gating in order to build their Facebook fan base.  No more.  Regardless of whether or not people like your page, you have to open the campaign open to them.  We think that could be a good thing.  Especially if you plan on doing a couple of campaigns a year.
    2. Have a sweet prize.  Your prize should be relevant to your products and services, but not boring.  Insurance companies are somewhat limited in what they can offer, but get creative.  I bet someone would love to receive a $500 gift card to prepare their house for storms and such.
    3. Promote, promote, promote.  As I mentioned earlier, all too often companies limit themselves in marketing their campaign.  “It’s a Facebook campaign so I’m just going to market it there.”  Wrong.  Send your campaign out in your entire social media marketing world.  Give it air and new audiences.
    4. Make an entry form for your campaign.   With the entry form, you will be able to get more information from your audience.  You can easily ask them very specific questions such as, ‘When will your current auto policy expire’?  This is a good way to get more information from your audience who may or may not be your client, but certainly they are following you, even if it is just for the campaign.

These techniques are extremely helpful in launching a successful marketing campaign.  Managing the campaign can also be time consuming and take away from your talents.  The team at Transformer Marketing has launched hundreds of successful social media campaigns.  We know the particulars, the audience, and the best part-we do it all for you, including management.  Give us a call today for more information.

Should you really let your kids have their face stuck online?

Posted ago by Insurance Marketing Expert

PhoneIf you think that Steve Jobs allowed his children all the freedom in the world to be on their iPhones or iPads, you are wrong.

Steve Jobs and a number of other tech giants have rules and regulations in place for their children to have access to their gadgets.   In a surprising fact, Steve Jobs children didn’t even have the first tablet that Apple released.

According to biographer William Isaacson, Steve Jobs, “made a point of having dinner at the big long table in their kitchen, discussing books and history and a variety of things” and added that “no one ever pulled out an iPad or computer. The kids did not seem addicted at all to devices.”

As I mentioned earlier, he’s not the only techie that has put limitations on their offspring’s using the gadgets that their parents help make.  3D Robotics Chief Executive Chris Anderson states, “My kids accuse me and my wife of being fascists and overly concerned about tech, and they say that none of their friends have the same rules,” he said of his five children, 6 to 17. “That’s because we have seen the dangers of technology firsthand. I’ve seen it in myself, I don’t want to see that happen to my kids.”

The next time your child pulls out their phone to take a picture of their dinner and put on Instagram, you may want to reconsider.

    Facebook Marketing 101: Do’s

Posted ago by Insurance Marketing Expert

    Facebook Marketing 101:  Do’s

Last week we discussed the don’ts of Facebook marketing.  Don’t over post, don’t be inauthentic, don’t be too pushy in your sales. By following those guidelines your business page can survive.  But we don’t want you to just survive, we want your business to THRIVE!  We put together a list of things that you can do to get your Facebook marketing campaign up to par.

    • Post fun stuff.  Bring out the personality of your company, your employees, and just invite your followers into your personality.  A good rule to remember is post more fun stuff than pushing your products and services.Facebook2
    • Shine your customer service skills by responding to your customer’s posts and comments as quickly as possible.  Experts say within an hour is the best.  Don’t leave your customer waiting.
    • Keep it short and simple.  Twitter has 140 characters for a reason.  We say to keep your posts short and sweet.  Kissmetrics offers this insight, “Posts with less than 80 characters received 66% more engagement.”
    • Cultivate your followers the right way.  Have you employees like the company page and interact, ask your customers to like and interact and from there you can build yourself an authentic following (and business)!
    • Ask a question.  The more you ask questions to your audience, the higher chance of success for your social media marketing.
    • Relevant and interesting topics are the key to engagement.  Boring posts are a dime a dozen and get passed up.
    • Post no more than 1-2 a day up or 1-4 times a week.  By following this calendar you will keep your business in plain view without bombarding your follower’s newsfeeds.

Social media is a powerful tool for your marketing plan.  Don’t overdo it!

Don’t make these Facebook marketing mistakes

Posted ago by Insurance Marketing Expert

As of July 1, 2014 Facebook has over 1 billion users, so it makes sense to launch your business on Facebook.  Go on now, connect with your customers, “like” your customers’ business pages, and start selling your services and products!  Wait!   There are a couple of things that I forgot to tell you.  There are some things you shouldn’t do if you are marketing on Facebook.  Here’s what I’m talking about:

    1. Stop posting all those ads.  Yes, it is good for your business to offer a promotion or a sales event here and there but if all your connections are seeing is salesy stuff, you’ll find your page getting unfollowed and/or blocked.  Besides, your Facebookfollowing knows what you sell, if they are in the market for what you need and you haven’t done a promotion in a while, they will come to you.
    2. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to ignore your audience.  Customer service will either make or break your business and if you don’t acknowledge your customers online presence, you will more than likely lose your customer to your competitor who is always on Facebook and interacting with their following.
    3. Your posts are too wordy.  You have to captivate your audience in 8 seconds or less.  We live in the world of short attention spans.  Just like an editor, cut out everything that is not necessary.
    4. Don’t buy likes for your business page.  Your real customers are the ones that count.  Besides, buying likes makes your company look inauthentic—which is not good for business.
    5. Writing fake comments.  It happens all the time.  Businesses are constantly setting up fake pages just to comment on their content.  Again, think inauthentic.
    6. Stop all that posting!   If you are posting something all the time, you are cluttering your follower’s newsfeeds, which takes legitimacy of your business to a new low.

Are you feeling a little overwhelmed about your social media marketing?  Have no fear, Transformer Marketing is here to help you weed through all the do’s and don’ts.  Give us a ring today.

    Rules of Engagement

Posted ago by Insurance Marketing Expert

Social Media is a powerful tool for any business.   Thanks to Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, and other social media platforms, you are able to connect with your customers on a daily basis.  Not only will your social media presence and interactions with your current customers, it will also help you gain viewership with followers and potential customers.

The Law of Social Media Marketing

Marketing professionals jumped on the marketing bandwagon of social media when it first came to light.  Very quickly, we found that Facebook and Twitter are great outlets for our B2C (business to consumer) clients to focus on and LinkedIn is a great B2B (business to business) arena.  In order to achieve the optimum response, you have to follow some social media rules of engagement.

    1. You have to be a listener.  Pay attention to what your customers are saying and asking for.  Respond to their comments and make every effort to relate to your customer’s needs.connected
    2. Design a relevant and competent social media campaign that will gain your customer’s attention.  Trying to be something your not doesn’t work.
    3. Always choose quality over quantity.  Relating and connecting with your 500 customers on a daily basis is way better than having 5,000 followers/friends and not connecting with them.
    4. Patience is a virtue.  It certainly is in this case.  Don’t expect an overnight success.  With everything, a successful social media marketing campaign will take time to build.
    5. Be open to discussing your content with your connections and be willing to allow them to share it.  Maybe your article that you published on your blog is not relevant to your customer but your customer has a friend (who is your prospect) who can relate.
    6. Change things up.  Stop promoting yourself all the time.  Find out what’s happening in your town and discuss that.  Get some fun content that doesn’t have anything to do with your business.

Transformer Marketing has experts who are familiar with the rules of social media engagement.  For more information, please feel free to contact us.
