A plan.  In August of 2014, Facebook put an end to like-gating.  What is like-gating?  When you force someone who doesn’t like your page to like your page.  Previously, marketers used like gating in order to build their Facebook fan base.  No more.  Regardless of whether or not people like your page, you have to open the campaign open to them.  We think that could be a good thing.  Especially if you plan on doing a couple of campaigns a year.
  2. Have a sweet prize.  Your prize should be relevant to your products and services, but not boring.  Insurance companies are somewhat limited in what they can offer, but get creative.  I bet someone would love to receive a $500 gift card to prepare their house for storms and such.
  3. Promote, promote, promote.  As I mentioned earlier, all too often companies limit themselves in marketing their campaign.  “It’s a Facebook campaign so I’m just going to market it there.”  Wrong.  Send your campaign out in your entire social media marketing world.  Give it air and new audiences.
  4. Make an entry form for your campaign.   With the entry form, you will be able to get more information from your audience.  You can easily ask them very specific questions such as, ‘When will your current auto policy expire’?  This is a good way to get more information from your audience who may or may not be your client, but certainly they are following you, even if it is just for the campaign.
