  • Don’t dive in neck deep.  Instagram, Pinterest, Google +, Tumblr, and many more other social sites are fun and popular, but that doesn’t mean that these sites will be effective for your business.  In our experience the top three social media sites are Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.  Don’t go overboard-you’ll spend all of your marketing budget or your employees’ valuable hours maintaining excess social sites.
  • Should I or shouldn’t I outsource my social media platform?  Yes and no.  Social media demands a constant presence, which brings you back to your employees’ valuable time.  If you do have someone strictly maintaining your social sites, does that employee know how to track analytics and Optimized CPM?  Outsource the maintenance part of your social media platform.  These dedicated, hard-working marketers know how to track the data.  Make sure you have employees engage on your sites though as well.  If you have someone who is a great photographer, have them post relevant pictures on your social media pages.
